Thieves Steal $5,000 In Jewelry From Saks Fifth Avenue

BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) — The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward in a smash and grab robbery at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton. It happened last Thursday, September 20th just before 8 p.m. when shoppers were in the store.

Surveillance video shows the robbers dressed in black from head to toe. They head straight for a glass display case, knock it over, and dump jewelry on the floor.  While they committed the crime, the FBI says they they forced customers and employees to lie on the floor.

Lisa Weinstock was shopping in another department at the time. She says she didn't see the crime but quickly learned about it.

"A sales associate came running from the other department and we heard a loud noise and they said everybody's lying down in the other department," Weinstock said.  She says she hid in a fitting room, terrified.  "Scary when you don't know if somebody has guns that part is scary," she said.

Police say the robbers were armed with sledgehammers and got away with money and merchandise. No one was injured in the robbery.

If you have any information as to the identity of these robbers, call the FBI at (305) 944-9101 or the Boca Raton Police Department at (561) 338-1246.
