Driver Dies After Truck Ends Up In Canal

PLANTATION (CBSMiami) – A 72-year-old man died Monday evening after his pickup truck plunged into a 10-foot-deep canal in Plantation.

A neighbor said she heard a car rev its engine and when she looked outside; she didn't see anything. Minutes later, Good Samaritans got into their boat and raced toward the submerged car.

The man was out of the car and was floating, but not breathing. Fire rescue crews were able to give the man CPR and felt a pulse.

The driver was taken to West Side Regional Hospital where he later died. The driver's identity has not been released.
