Search For Missing Miami Teen Continues In Gainesville

GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – Family and friends of a South Florida teen spent Sunday searching for him after he was allegedly beaten and left in an area of northwest Gainesville.

Eighteen year old Christian Aguilar, who graduated from Doral Academy, is a freshman at the University of Florida who is majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

He was last seen on Thursday night near Streit's Motorsports on Northwest 13th Street.

It is believed that Aguilar went missing after a heated dispute with another person about Aguilar's girlfriend.

"As a father, I am in agony. It has already been two days," Christian's father Carlos Aguilar told the Gainesville Sun. "The more the time passes, the less chance he has to survive."

Aguilar said the girl his son was dating used to date the man who reportedly attacked when he lived in Miami. He believes the attack was planned. He said his son was beaten by a man that he knows, who reportedly admitted to beating up Augilar and leaving him out in an area with a lot of woods.

The man was involuntarily committed for a mental health evaluation and has since gotten a lawyer. He has not, however, been arrested.

The Gainesville Police Department believes that foul play is involved and is investigating the disappearance.
