Ryan To Address RNC Wednesday Night

TAMPA (CBSMiami/CBSNews) – The man tapped by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to be his running mate will address the faithful Wednesday at the GOP's national convention in Tampa.

After a days delay due to Tropical Storm Isaac, the Republican National Convention got underway in earnest Tuesday night. The party officially nominated Romney and Paul Ryan to be their candidates.

Romney's wife Ann stole the show with a personal introduction to her husband. Romney promised that her husband would not fail and then spoke of her personal love story.

"Those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer. A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage," said Romney.

During her speech, she also made a direct appeal to undecided voters.

"No one will work harder. No one will care more. No one will move heaven and earth like Mitt Romney to make this country a better place to live!"

After her speech, Romney appeared on stage and gave his wife a kiss as the crowd roared in appreciation.

Love was also a theme during New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's keynote address.

"Love without respect is always fleeting. But respect could grow into real and lasting love," said Christie.

He said some politicians become too focused on winning the love of voters and lose focus on leading.

"You see Mr. President, real leaders don't follow polls, real leaders change polls."

On Wednesday the spotlight will be on Ryan who will be the night's featured speaker. It's expected that he will lay out his vision for what a Romney-Ryan administration will look like. Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez will also speak during the televised portion of the convention.
