Family Of Nine Loses Home After Lauderhill Fire

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – A Broward County family of nine is picking up the pieces Friday after a massive fire broke out in their Lauderhill home.

According to Lauderhill Fire Rescue, the fire units received a call on Friday at 2:58AM regarding a house fire located at 7216 NW 48th Ct.

The Fire Rescue units arrived a few minutes later finding a one-story single family building on fire with heavy smoke coming out of the home.

The fire had completely engulfed the garage of the home and it took firefighters nearly 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Most of the fire's damage was limited to the garage area, where fire officials believe the blaze started.

There were no injuries to the family who lived in the home, but American Red Cross representatives who were on scene said the family received assistance after being misplaced due to heavy smoke damage in the home.

The Lauderhill Fire Marshall's Office said the cause of the fire was a car parked in the garage and was accidental.
