Police: Parents Gambled While Baby Slept Alone In Hard Rock Hotel Room

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - Two South Florida parents looking to spend a night alone at a casino now face charges of child neglect after their 20 month old child was found sleeping alone in a hotel room.

Natalie Fouch, 30, and Albert Thomas Owens, 36, appeared in Broward County Court on Wednesday.

Seminole Police say Hard Rock Hotel & Casino security responded to a guestroom after the phone had been disconnected from the wall, which is standard procedure.

Upon arriving at the room, officers noticed a 20 month old child sleeping unharmed in one of the beds.

Officers say they stayed in the room for about a half an hour until the couple arrived. They told security that they unplugged the phone so it wouldn't wake the baby.

Both were placed under arrest and taken to the Broward County Jail.

The child was released to the custody of his grandmother and the couple was reported to the Florida Child Abuse Hotline.
