Two Arrested After A Pair Of Carjackings In NW Dade

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two people have been taken into custody, one is one the run, after a pair of carjackings led to two police pursuits on I-95 in northwest Miami-Dade.

One of the vehicles stolen was a Jeep Cherokee. Officers chased it on I-95 when it exited and then tried to get back onto the highway at NW 106th Street just east of 7th Avenue. The driver of the stolen vehicle, however, didn't realize there was a fence right to I-95 and slammed right into it. He was taken into custody.

In the second carjacking,  a woman was held up at gunpoint at a Bank of America branch, according to police.  The gunman then took off in her Volkswagen Jetta.

He was arrested after he crashed it Jetta at NW 135th Street and 6th Avenue, just east of I-95. Police said the driver crashed into a concrete wall in front of the home. The home owner built the wall because in the past other cars had lost control at the intersection and slammed into the house.

Police are still looking for a third carjacking suspect.
