Logan Morrison Unlikely To Return This Season

MIAMI (CBSSports) — Left-fielder Logan Morrison said he doesn't expect to return this season.

Morrison was placed on the disabled list July 29 with inflammation of his right knee, which was examined this week. He was told to wait three weeks for the swelling to go down before surgery, which he said is "probable."

Asked if there was much chance he could return this season, he said, "I don't think so."

Morrison said he had been told that waiting will simplify his rehabilitation after surgery.

"If you're doing surgery and there's swelling in the knee, it makes it hard," Morrison said. "It creates more scar tissue. He wants to wait and let that go down and get it as healthy as possible before doing surgery."

Morrison is hitting .230 with 11 home runs in 93 games this season after hitting .247 with 23 home runs in 123 games last season.

He had surgery on the same knee in December.
