$100K Bond For Man Charged With Child Porn

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Bond was set at $100,000 for a South Florida man arrested on child porn charges in Broward County.

According to the police report, Steven Marks, 50, was arrested after investigators from the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force found dozens of child porn images on his computer.

CBS4's Joan Murray spoke with BSO detective Jennifer Montgomery who is part of the national task force on internet crimes against children.  Montgomery executed the warrant at Marks home and arrested him.

She said in Marks' bedroom they found numerous movie files of child pornography located on his computer and on DVD's found on his desk.  The DVD's had innocuous titles such as "Guitar Lessons, "Jimmy Hendrix" and "John Coltrane."

Montgomery explains how the task force is able to track people trafficking in child pornography.

She said he logged in using multiple IP addresses.  Those accounts were identified as coming back to his residence.

"We're able to see child porn as it crosses internet lines.  Through investigative techniques we can see whose looking at them and sharing them.  The images mostly depicted boys between the ages of six and 15 engaging in different sex acts with each other or adults," said Montgomery.

She said hundreds of additional CD's and DVD's were seized from the residence and from his vehicle.

The report states when he was arrested, Marks reportedly said, "my life is over."

Marks works for a car dealership and lives in Sunrise with his mother.

If he manages to post bond, he'll have to wear an ankle monitoring device, won't be allowed access to the internet or be allowed to leave the country.
