Shooting Leaves Husband, Wife In Hospital

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Miami-Dade Police are looking for a man they say opened fire on a couple inside a car after he cut them off.

The victims were driving a red Toyota Corolla northbound on NW 23 Avenue near 52 Street when a man driving southbound in a red pickup truck cut them off, according to detectives.

Words were exchanged and shots were fired, Miami-Dade Police Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said Saturday night.

Zabaleta said Oscar Padilla, 62, and his wife Maritza Colidres, 51, were shot multiple times. They were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and admitted for surgery. Their conditions are not known at this time.

A passenger inside the Corolla at the time of the shooting was interviewed by police, detectives said.

She told them she believes the shooter goes by the nickname "Flaco".

Investigators think the shooter and the victims knew each other prior to the altercation.

Police are looking for a white, Hispanic male with a thin build last seen driving a red pickup truck.

Zabaleta said the man is considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information about the gunman or the shooting, contact Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477). You can remain anonymous.
