Noles Throw Greg Reid Off Team

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher has thrown star cornerback/kick returner Greg Reid for undisclosed "violation of team rules."

Coach Fisher's dismissal comes on the eve of fall camp beginning and just before Reid was about to start his senior season. Reid was a very dangerous punt/kick returner for the Noles, but also played cornerback where he had two interceptions and 32 tackles last season.

Reid's dismissal comes three weeks after he was charged with marijuana possession when he was stopped by a Georgia state trooper near his home in Valdosta. He had also been arrested last year on charges of resisting arrest and perjury charges, but those charges were eventually dropped.

Reid was the number one player in the state of Georgia in 2009 and number four overall cornerback in the nation that season as a five-star recruit, according to Rivals.com.

Fisher has spent the last few seasons building up the talent on FSU's roster, but losing Reid will hurt when it comes time for conference play for the Seminoles.
