Sweetwater Cops Release Surveillance Video Of Burglary Ring In Action

MIAMI (CBS4) – Surveillance video of a group of brazen burglars caught in the act was released Tuesday by the Sweetwater Police Department.

Authorities said the June 30th theft was the work of the major crime ring.

The video, taken at the General Procurement warehouse in the 2000 Block of Northwest 112 Avenue, depicts a group of men casing the building for nearly two hours.

Once inside, they went straight for the Hewlett-Packard laptop computers.

Eight men have been charged in the heist. Another suspect is still at large.

They stole computers and parts worth about $80,000, but they didn't get very far, according to police.

After sawing through the back of a stolen delivery truck and hot wiring it to start, the getaway driver crashed in to a tree near Dolphin Mall after a short police pursuit.

Orestes Chacon, Leandro Chacon, Yaser Lopez, Reinel Valdivia, Juan Carlos Arencibia, Eliezer Roche Mena, Alois Cea-Gonzalez and Rigoberto Fernandez Donato have been charged with burglary and grand theft.

"These guys don't have 9 to 5 jobs. These guys do this for a living," Sweetwater Police Chief Roberto Fulgeira said.

Cea-Gonzalez is also charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. Police say he attacked the lead detective during the interrogation.

Chief Fulgeira said this crime ring is also linked to other burglaries outside his city.

"This ring doesn't stop here," Chief Fulgeira said. "There's more to it. There are more people involved."

All eight suspects are out of jail on bond, but police say they're still looking for another man who was driving a green Ford Escape.

Cops say more arrests are coming and several of the eight men could face more charges.
