Local Businesses Hope To Cash In On Heat Parade

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Some of the biggest winners of the Miami Heat championship day parade weren't just the players on the floats, but also the businesses along the parade route.

Local businesses were expecting to make a good profit from the thousands of people who were packing the parade route. In 2006, the biggest need from the crowd was water because the temperatures outside were sweltering.

That may again be the case this year because even though the air temperature was hovering around 80 degrees; the humidity was pushing the heat index well into the 90's.

Businesses, especially restaurants, were hoping the fans would celebrate the passing of the parade and then head inside to pump some much needed money into the downtown economy.
