SUV Slams Into Broward Apartment

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Broward apartment has been deemed unsafe after an SUV came crashing through one of its walls.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of SW 41st Avenue.

Pablo Ceron, a painter by trade, was behind the wheel of a Chevy Suburban and pulling up to the building to pick up a worker for a job when accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake.

The SUV shot forward and slammed into the wall of an apartment. The wall toppled into the unit's empty living room.  Ceron said his first concern was for the large family who lived there.

"The first thing I did was get out to see if they were okay," Ceron.

"Thank God, no one inside was hurt, nobody died," said building owner Delius Joli.

Ceron was cited for not having a license.

While Joli does have insurance which will help pay for repairs, the family who lives in the unit will have to find a temporary place to stay.
