Magic Kingdom Souvenirs Headed For Florida Port

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBSMiami) — Tinkerbelle's ship has come in, along with Mickey's ears and Cinderella's crown, and they'll all be docking at the Port of Jacksonville.

Most people don't think much about where Disney souvenirs arrive when headed for the Magic Kingdom. We all know they're made in China, but they have to land here before they can be sold on Main Street USA.

In the past, the shiploads of Mickeyware arrived not in Florida but in the Port of Savannah, but that is changing. Tuesday, mickey himself joined Governor Riuck Scott in announcing 75% of the Disney doodads will arrive in Jacksonville, not Georgia.

25% will continue to arrive in Savanna, but Jacksonville port officials have helped the Magic Kingdom cut a better deal to win the rights to get the souvenirs offloaded in Florida.

It's part of efforts by Scott and Florida business leaders to boost the state's economy by increasing activity at its ports.
