Report: Dolphins To Work Out Ochocinco

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have a glaring need for veteran help at wide receiver heading into 2012. They will work out a veteran in the coming week that would definitely bring quite a bit of publicity with him.

According to CBSSports.com's Jason LaCanfora, the Dolphins will work out Chad Ochocinco next week. Ochocinco was released by the New England Patriots this week after having a subpar 2011 campaign which saw him struggle to get on the field.

LaCanfora reported that Ochocinco's preferred destination is the Dolphins. But, Miami traded their diva receiver Brandon Marshall in the offseason and it's not known whether Ochocinco would fit into the culture head coach Joe Philbin is trying to build.

For all of his self-publicity and on-field antics, Ochocinco has been clean off the field, which was part of Marshall's undoing in Miami. Ochocinco is nearing the end of his career, but he could give the Dolphins a few lessons on marketing and social media usage.

LaCanfora reported Ochocinco is in top shape and that he makes his home here in the offseason and would definitely prefer to stay here during the season as well.

One thing's for sure, if Ochocinco joined the Dolphins, it would make "Hard Knocks" on HBO must-see television each week.
