Report: SunTrust Hiking Checking Account Fees

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – If you're a customer of SunTrust bank, get ready to pay higher fees on most of the bank services you depend on.

The company announced that starting August 24, it will raise the minimum daily balance a customer is required to keep in an "Everyday" checking account from $500 to $1,500 or pay a $7 monthly service fee, according to the Huffington Post.

Customers who have "Everyday" checking accounts will also be forced to pay $36 overdraft charges instead of $25 for the first one and $36 for future overdrafts.

According to the Huff Post, customers with other accounts including Student Checking and Solid Choice Checking will no longer be reimbursed for ATM transactions at non-SunTrust Banks.

SunTrust is based in Atlanta and has 1,651 branches in the southeast.
