"The Lion King" Roars Into The Adrienne Arsht Center
MIAMI (CBS4) - The Lion King, three words that immediately transport you to another land.
As the 6th longest running show on Broadway, and translated into seven different languages, the popular musical has worldwide appeal.
Cast in the lead roles in the touring production now on stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center are Jelani Remy as Simba and Syndee Williams, a graduate of Palmetto High, as Nala.
"I remember being 10 years old when the show came out and I heard "Shadowland" and I thought, 'one day I want to sing that song'. Dreams do come true," said Williams
Just like on stage, backstage has its own show and is a world of its own where an almost endless amount of costumes line the racks, animals hang from the ceilings, everything perfectly choreographed.
"We have fifty in the cast, another fifty plus working backstage and support positions. We're thrilled to be here in Miami," said stage director Ron Davis.
Amyia Burell plays eleven roles, with 14 costume changes
"The puppetry, the costumes, the colors. Everything is beautiful." said Burell.
The Lion King is on through June 10 At The Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami.
