Road Work To Close Section Of Dolphin Expressway This Week

MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A major construction project will force the closure of a section of the Dolphin Expressway this week.

Beginning Monday night at 11 p.m. all eastbound traffic on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will be detoured to southbound SR 826.  The closure of the eastbound lanes will last through 5 a .m.  The SR 826 southbound ramp to eastbound SR 836 will also be closed during this time frame. The nighttime closures will last through Friday.

The state Department of Transportation said during the closures contractors will be removing bridge beams over the roadway.

Drivers heading eastbound during the closure period will be detoured south on SR 836. From there they can exit at W Flagler Street, then get on the northbound SR 826 ramp to get back to eastbound SR 836.

Southbound drivers on SR 826 who want to head eastbound on SR 836 should go to West Flagler Street exit. Take the exit and then get back on SR 826 heading north so they can get to eastbound SR 836.

If weather or any other unforeseen conditions affect the closures, they will be scheduled on the next available night.
