OPA-LOCKA (CBSMiami) — Take Your Child to Work Day turned out to be dangerous for an Opa-Locka teenager who stayed home from school and was seriously burned while in the kitchen.

While home, he decided to cook some French fries in the kitchen of his home at 1201 Rutland Street. He was boiling oil in a kettle on the stove when it caught fire, according to the source.READ MORE: Shot Doral Police Officer In Serious But Stable Condition, Second Officer Recovering
Iainez suffered extensive burns all over his body and was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
“He is a good kid. I thought he would be okay staying home from school,” said his mother Blanca Iainez. “He was just making French fries. I hope he will be okay. His condition is not known.
