Retired Ft. Laud. Chiropractor Arrested For Alleged Lewd Acts With Kids

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - CBS4 News has learned that a former chiropractor is accused of following South Florida children around several department stores, videotaping them and talking to them about his private parts.

Jonathan Davis is accused of one count of lewd and lascivious exhibition inside a K-Mart at Oakwood Plaza.

Police reports indicate that Davis also followed and videotaped children in another store in Hollywood and a Burlington Coat Factory in Hialeah.

According to a Hollywood Police arrest warrant, Hialeah police confiscated Davis' phone in late March and found 80 cellphone videos showing Davis "engaging with young female children, under twelve years of age, in various stores."

Police said Davis followed children as young as 5 years old.

Even worse, police say Davis not only filmed the children but engaged in inappropriate sexual conversation with them and touched himself in front of at least one child.

Police charge that "Davis uses a ruse of catcalling to unsuspecting children by making a 'pssst' noise to get their attention. He then appears to be scratching his (private parts)."

Shoppers at Oakwood Plaza were outraged at the allegations.

"That's just disgusting," said Dawn Jose.

Police reports say that Davis used an iPhone to make the recordings and constantly followed the children for up to 30 minutes in the stores. According to a search warrant if a parent got too close, Davis would pretend to be talking on the phone or shopping.

When police questioned Davis, the arrest warrant says Davis admitted it "looked 'weird' when he was videotaping the children inside the store but (he said) he had a 'problem.'"

We tried to reach Davis at a Fort Lauderdale address for him but there was no answer. He also did not return a message left on his cell phone.

However one of his neighbors, Matthew Lantosh, told CBS4 News he always thought there was something unusual about Davis.

"I said I saw it coming once I heard about it because he just seemed a weirdo to everybody here," said Lantosh.

On a YouTube clip for a marketing company, Davis says he retired early from his chiropractor job and enjoys his freedom. Jail records show he is free on bond. Shoppers who heard the allegations against him believe Davis' freedom should be short lived.

"Someone like that definitely shouldn't be out on the streets," Danilo Rodriguez said. "He's insane. He should be locked up for awhile."

Police have the cellphone videos but are not releasing them at this time.

Police say this case is yet another reminder that you must supervise your children in public at all times.
