According to the Department of Transportation, the southbound lanes will be closed to traffic from 12:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. so crews can install an overhead sign structure. The southbound entrance ramps at Sunrise Boulevard and Pat Salerno Drive also will be closed.

If it storms and they get structure installed, the closure will be rescheduled for Thursday morning, May 3.

The following detours will be in place while the closures are in effect:

Southbound traffic on the Sawgrass Expressway will be directed to exit at Sunrise Boulevard, go east and follow the detour signs to access Interstate 75 and Interstate 595.

Traffic wishing to enter the southbound Sawgrass Expressway from Sunrise Boulevard and Pat Salerno Drive will be directed to go south on Northwest 136th Avenue and follow the detour signs to State Road 84 and I-75.

In addition, two southbound lanes on the Sawgrass Expressway will be closed approaching the Sunrise Toll Plaza beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 1. At least one southbound lane will remain open until the detour goes into effect.
