Two Killed In Coral Gables Office Building

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) - One person is being questioned and police are searching for others after two people were found dead at a Coral Gables business around lunchtime Friday. Police are not releasing many details, including how the people died.

The incident happened in a building at 801 Monterrey in Coral Gables after 12 p.m..

Investigators for Miami-Dade police said a distress call to police brought Coral Gables officers to the scene, where they found a man and a woman dead.

CBS4 Investigative Reporter Jim DeFede said sources close to the investigation said the death happened in suite 205, in what may be a mortgage or property leasing company. Police have not confirmed this, but sources also say the alleged killers burst into the suite wearing masks before killing the people.

The suspect or suspects then fled. Police have not said how the victims died.

Coral Gables police declared a 'code red', initiating a series of 911 calls to nearby residents and businesses urging them to remain inside to avoid contact with possible suspects and the police dogs searching for them.

CBS4's David Sutta also reported a Sedano's market located across the street in the City of Miami is somehow involved, with people deploying crime scene tape inside and out and asking people to leave.

Police said they are questioning a 'person of interest', and are not looking for any additional suspects.

"At this time, we have one person that we have detained that we are interviewing," said Miami-Dade Police Det. Javier Baez.
