“The two pedestrians were in the roadway but we don’t know exactly where they were, whether they were in or near a crosswalk,” said Mike Jachles, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesperson. “And that’s something that traffic homicide investigators will determine as part of their investigation.”

CBS4’s Carey Codd saw various objects on the road, including what appeared to be child’s clothes in the roadway and a dented car that suggested a violent crash.

The BSO said the accident is a reminder to always be aware when you’re walking or driving.

“People are out. Drivers are out. People are out sightseeing,” said Jachles. “It’s important that you stay alert. If you’re pedestrian, make sure you use crosswalks, cross where you should.”
