WASHINGTON (CBSMiami) – The brother of Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis and San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has been arrested for assault in Washington, DC and is also a suspect in the murder of a tourist, according to multiple reports.

Michael Davis was arrested in Washington for allegedly hitting a woman in the head with a hammer, according to the Associated Press. Police in Washington said Davis was caught on Thursday night after a teenage girl was attacked in the same area as three other attacks.

DC Police wouldn’t confirm that Davis’ alleged attack was related to the other attacks, but admitted they were similar in nature, according to WJLA.com.

Police said after officers found Davis he started to run and threw away a bag that had a claw hammer inside, WJLA reported.

One of the three attacks in a span of 27 hours Tuesday and Wednesday led to the death of tourist Gary Dederichs, 66, according to WJLA.

Vernon Davis tweeted out that he got a “disturbing call” from Washington.

“Just got a disturbing call from back home in Washington, DC,” Davis wrote in his tweet. “A good day gone bad! Hopefully he wasn’t involved!”
