Something Extra: Scientifically Beautiful?

MIAMI (CBS4) - The evil queen in "Snow White" famously asked: "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"

This afternoon, People Magazine said it was Beyonce, choosing her as the world's most beautiful woman for 2012.  The singing star says she feels more beautiful than ever, now that she's given birth.

It's hard to argue with People's choice, but Florence Colgate might.  The lovely eighteen year old has been dubbed "Britain's Most Beautiful Face" and they're using science to back that up.

Sure she has big eyes, high cheekbones and full lips, but Colgate also has symmetrical features, with what are considered nearly perfect ratios.  The distance between her eyes is close to the ideal forty six per cent of the width of her face.  And the distance from her eyes to her mouth is just about a third of the size of her face.  That's considered the beauty ideal.

Who comes up with this stuff?

It's been said the absence of a flaw in beauty is itself a flaw... Colgate herself doesn't take the scientific ratios seriously, saying beauty is and should be in the eye of the beholder.

But British beholders have decided she personifies beauty, so overnight, she's gone from school and working at the local fish and chip shop to big time model.
