Teen Sexually Assaulted In Metrorail Station

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A young teen was sexually assaulted in the bathroom of a Metrorail station last week. Now police have come up with a sketch of the man who did it in hopes that somebody recognizes him and gives Crime Stoppers a call before he strikes again.

It happened Friday at the Allapattah Metrorail Station, at 3501 NW 12th Avenue, around 3:30 p.m.

The 13-year old said he got off the train at the station and had to use the bathroom. The teen told police the man followed him inside and sexually assaulted him.

"This is a very violent crime to happen to a 13-year old," said Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Det. Aida Fina-Milian.  "Part of our concern is did it happen before.  For for it to happen in the future is something we'd like to avoid.  If someone recognizes the man in the sketch or recognizes his mannerisms, call police."

"I'll be keeping my eyes open, trust me this is something I'll be more aware of and talk to my son about, I'll make sure I show him this picture," said Angela Brackett who uses the Metrorail.

The man is described as being between 30 to 40 years old with a heavy build and dark complexion. He has a medium afro and a short salt and pepper beard. On the day he attacked the teen, he was wearing a light blue shirt and light blue jeans.

Anyone who recognizes the man is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
