Police Seek Two Suspects In Beating & Robbery Of Pregnant Store Clerk

MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Police are looking for two of three armed robbers who beat a pregnant convenience store clerk while cleaning out the cash register.

According to police, three masked men entered the Quicke Food Mart, 7018 N.E. 2nd Avenue, just before noon on Sunday, April 15.

There, police say, one of the men pulled out a pistol and forced the four months pregnant clerk, Murshada Khondaker, to the ground and began brutally beating her with his fists and the gun. During the beating, the other robbers took money from the register.

After stealing about 50 dollars cash, the suspects fled the scene. Police say Khondaker's five year old daughter witness the beating and begged the men to leave her mother alone.

Blocks away, police arrested DeAngelo Joyce, 16, and charged him with the crime. His alleged accomplices are still on the loose.

Khondaker told police that she recognized the voice of the man who pointed the gun at her as Joyce, a known customer who had just purchased candy from her minutes before the robbery.

Joyce, a student at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, was charged with Armed Burglary with a Firearm, Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Wearing a Mask While Committing an Offense.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two other suspects is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS or log on to www.crimestoppersmiami.com.
