Food For Thought: Delivery Truck For Food Charity Stolen

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Some South Florida people having trouble making ends meet may find it tougher to put together meals for their family, after someone stole a refrigerated delivery truck and other items from a South Florida food bank.

Feeding South Florida said someone took a truck and a refrigeration unit from it's NW Miami-Dade distribution center Thursday night.

The truck is used to make deliveries from the warehouse, and organization said without it, the inability to make deliveries will mean food in the warehouse could expire before it can get to people who need it.

The expired food would be destroyed for safety reasons.

The truck was donated by Chase Bank as part of a charitable giving program, and helped the organization deliver food from the Keys to Palm Beach county.

Feeding South Florida, formerly the Daily Bread food bank, distributes almost 30 million pounds of food every year.

The organization is looking for help spotting the truck, which was painted like a billboard for the organization. The truck's Florida tag is X6666B.
