Bear Bites Florida Woman Walking Her Dog

LONGWOOD (CBSMiami) - A Longwood woman who was walking her dog got a shock Friday when a bear confronted her and bit her on the butt. The dog and the bear are fine, but she has a puncture wound where she sits.

Wildlife officials said the confrontation happened "in the middle of bear world." Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Joy Hill the area is close to the Wekiva River, which Hill says is right on the edge of a state forest that was once bear habitat.

The 57-year-old woman was walking her dog near a trash bin when she was bitten in the buttocks. Hill says the victim is "going to be fine."
