Police: Miami Man Beaten And Robbed Of ATM Card

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Police are looking for two men they say severely beat and robbed a man for his PIN number, then used his card to withdrawal cash at a nearby convenience store.

Police say on March 4th, Rafael Carranza–Mejia was doing his laundry at the laundromat in the area of  N.W. Miami Court and 79 Street when he decided to ride his bike for exercise while his clothes were in the machines.

While in the area of N.E. 1 Avenue and 79 Street, he was approached by two men who demanded money. When Carranza-Mejia told them he had none, police say they forced him into an alleyway and began punching him.

While they were assaulting him, the victim told police that the suspects robbed him of his jewelry and wallet, and demanded the PIN number to his debit card. One of the suspects used the victim's bike to ride to a nearby ATM while the other held Carranza-Mejia down.

The suspect returned after he learned that Carranza-Mejia had given him the wrong PIN number. The men continued to beat Carranza-Mejia until he gave them the correct PIN number.

While one of the suspects returned to the convenience store and withdrew money, Carranza-Mejia was able to escape and call police.

The suspects are described as two black males, one is 25 yrs old,  5'7", 140 lbs last seen wearing a white t-shirt and  jean and the other was roughly 35 years old, 5'-8", 250 lbs, bald, mustache, white t-shirt and jean shorts.
