Police Search For Man Who Shot Girlfriend At Kendall Party

KENDALL (CBSMiami) – The search is on for a south Miami-Dade man who shot his girlfriend at an early morning party in Kendall and then took off in the party host's SUV.

Jose Duarte Borrero, 31, and Yissel Milanes were at a party in a home at 14996 SW 59th Street when the couple started arguing, according to Miami-Dade police spokesman Det. Javier Baez.

Just before 3 a.m. the fight escalated, Duarte allegedly pulled a gun and shot Milanes in the head.

As the party goers scattered in all directions; Duarte, with gun in hand, stole a party goer's SUV.

Milanes, who turned 27 years old on Wednesday, was rushed to Kendall Regional Trauma Center in critical condition.

Police say Duarte drove to his aunt's home in Hialeah where he switched vehicles and drove off in her dark green Jeep. When police went to the aunt's home, they found the stolen vehicle with a gun inside.

Miami-Dade police spotted it in a shopping center parking lot at Bird Road and SW 152nd Avenue. Duarte was no where in sight.

"We're urging the community to look closely and if anybody has seen this individual, or perhaps knows his whereabouts; they're urged to contact 911 immediately and not approach him," said Det. Alvaro Zabaleta of Miami-Dade Police.
