Free Gas Cards To Ft. Lauderdale Summer Hotel Guests

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Summer travelers looking for a little relief from the high price of gas should consider a trip to Fort Lauderdale.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau is offering summer hotel guests $25 gas cards if they book at two-night stay at select hotels through its website or Facebook page.

The Sun Sentinel reports the agency is prepared to spend up to $100,000 for gas cards and another $100,000 to promote the offer.

President Nicki Grossman told the newspaper that having guests in the hotel rooms is worth the price of the gas cards.

Neither Palm Beach County nor Miami-Dade County are offering gas cards, although both have other discount programs to lure summer travelers.

Tourism experts fear that higher gas prices will cut into travel spending. Record tourism was a bright spot in South Florida's economy last year.
