Teen Caught With 30 Pounds Of Coke At MIA Sentenced

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A British teen caught with nearly 30 pounds of cocaine stuffed in cake mix boxes at Miami International Airport will spend the next year behind bars.

Ayesha Niles, 18, pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of trafficking and conspiracy to traffic cocaine. In return, she was sentenced to 364 days in jail, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.

Niles was caught on October 21 when federal customs agents selected her suitcase for "secondary screening." Inside her suitcase, authorities say they found approximately 30 pounds of powder cocaine in cake mix boxes. Her arrest report states Niles was headed from Kingston, Jamaica, back home to London when she was stopped at the Miami International Airport

Niles told authorities she "did not question" the suspicious activity she was involved with.

When she completes her sentence, Niles will be deported.
