Spoelstra Named Eastern Conference Coach Of Month

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Heat were arguably the hottest team in the NBA during the month of February and head coach Erik Spoelstra is now reaping the rewards of the team's stellar play.

The NBA announced Thursday that Coach Spoelstra had been named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month.

During February, the Heat was 11-2 and most of the wins came by double-digits. The Heat didn't just beat teams; it typically annihilated them in February.

The team also started an eight-game winning streak they hope to continue past the All-Star break.

The Heat has outscored opponents by an average of 16.5 points during the eight-game winning streak and when the New York Knicks showed up with Jeremy Lin; the Heat's defense drove the Knicks "lin"sane.

The Heat is in Portland Thursday night for a game against the Trail Blazers. The team will be playing without star power forward Chris Bosh, which will test Spoelstra's lineup.

Miami travels to Utah Friday for a game with the Jazz, again without Bosh.
