Jose Baez Withdraws From Casey Anthony Case

ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) – After successfully getting Casey Anthony acquitted in the murder of her daughter Caylee, lead attorney Jose Baez has severed ties with her.

In a statement released Wednesday Baez says he has withdrawn from the Anthony case and will now attend to the needs of his other clients. Since the Anthony trial, Baez has taken on as a client Gary Giordano, an American businessman suspected in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba.

He also has been giving speeches and offering television commentary.

Anthony was acquitted of killing her 2-year-old daughter last July. She is now serving probation on an unrelated charge.

Last month it was reported that the Anthony and Baez had a falling out after private videos made by Anthony surfaced online.

Baez denied any involvement and added that Anthony isn't fielding offers to sell her story.
