Plane Spins Off Runway After Landing Gear Collapse

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A pilot and passenger are okay after a landing gear on a Cessna they were in collapsed.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said Cessna 402 took off from Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Thursday bound for Opa Locka when the pilot advised the tower that they were returning.

Airport spokesman Gregory Myers said after the plane landed on Runway 9-Right the right side landing gear gave way. The small plane spun off the runway and ended up in a taxi way.

Neither the pilot nor the passenger was injured.

No word on what caused the landing gear to collapse.
