Miami Police Looking For Robber Who Posed As Flower Delivery Man

MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Police are looking for a crook who took advantage of the Valentine's Day celebration to pull off a frightening armed robbery.

In the middle of the day, police say the suspect posing as a delivery man and knocked on the door of a Miami home. He brought with him flowers and chocolates, but when the young lady inside the home opened the door, he forced his way past her.

"(He) Rushes in with a gun, forces his way in, he's in the home for less than a minute and is able to take off with an undisclosed amount of cash and some jewelry," said Sgt. Freddie Cruz Jr.

Police say the woman was home alone with her child, but neither of them were hurt. Police offer some tips to make sure others do not become victims.

"There's a lesson to be learned. Again, this victim wasn't injured but we don't know what the next criminal can think of," said Sgt. Cruz. "If you do get a delivery at your home, just confirm before you open your door, confirm that it is in fact an employee of that company."

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
