Report: Butch Davis Joining Bucs Staff

TAMPA, Fla. (CBSMiami) – Former University of Miami head coach Butch Davis is set to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the team's new "senior defensive assistant," according to Foxsports.com.

Davis has been away from football after an NCAA scandal enveloped the University of North Carolina where he was then the head coach. Davis was fired just before the start of the 2011 season by Tar Heels.

But Davis has an NFL pedigree, which could help new Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano make the transition from college coach to NFL coach easier.

According to FoxSports.com, the job will entail Davis working with Schiano "and whomever the team ultimately names its defensive coordinator."
