
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – Calling South Beach’s newest Mexican restaurant “Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar” sexy and edgy might sound a bit strange, but looking around the newly renovated space off 1st Street and Collins Avenue with red velvet walls, glass chandeliers and rustic bar you get a certain vibe.
“Lolita was originally conceived to be a burlesque or bordello Mexican spirit and we wanted to take street food of Mexico but keep it simple,” said owner Jody Pennette.

It’s not your typical Mexican eatery; serenading Mariachi Bands are not on the menu. Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar is the third take on a concept started in Boston and Connecticut.

“You can come out and get a couple of taquitos and tacos and come out light and then we also have tequila at $100 a shot,” said Pennette.
