Alleged Coral Gables Prowler Arrested

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – Coral Gables Police say they have the man responsible for a residential burglary which was caught on the home's security cameras.

German Rodriguez, 24, was arrested for the January 16th burglary to the home at the home of Ana Abellon and her 84 year-old mother on the 300 block of Candia Avenue.

According to police, the surveillance video shows a burgundy colored two door car backing into the residence's driveway into order to conceal its license plate. After getting out of the car Rodriguez, wearing a dark-colored shirt, long shorts and some sort of brace on his right arm, walked around the home, checking out windows and doors, to see if anyone was inside.

During the crime, a burglar alarm was triggered and police officers were dispatched to check it out.

Before the officers arrived, however, they say Rodriguez left the house through the front door with a pillow case in hand. A case, police said, which was filled with necklaces, bracelets with precious stones and a pin stolen from the home.

Rodriguez is charged with Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling and Grand Theft.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS or the Coral Gables Police Department at (305) 442-1600.
