Miami's Elite Women Get Together For A Cause

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It was an afternoon of wine, women, and shoes at the Coral Gables Country Club Wednesday as 400 influential women showed up to help support the Miami Children's Hospital.

"For a couple of decades we women have been deciding where the philanthropic dollars go," said Lucy Morillo Agnetti, CEO of the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation. "We are CEO's and top executives and we care about things that are important to us. So we got together to have fun at the same time."

The ladies were able to indulge in shopping and wines, which were both sampled and sold. Neiman Marcus showed off the newest looks for spring as guests walked around in their fanciest footwear.

But throughout the event, everyone tried to remain focused on exactly why they were there.

"What better cause than this; a world-class hospital in our own backyard. I have 2 kids and I hope I never have to use them; but I'm glad to know it's there," said Maggie Rodriguez.

CBS4's Shannon Hori served as the emcee and honorary chairwoman. She has had help from Miami Children's as her son Colt was born with a rare congenital heart defect.

"We've been through quite a journey with one of our twins," Hori said. "Miami Children's Hospital has been really an important place for us."

"It's a great combination; get the girls out to wear their best shoes and look their best and shop, and it all goes to a great cause. What a combination!" said Lisa Ranawat.
