Monroe County Non-Partisan Election

The 2012 Primary election is open to Registered Republicans only.

In order to vote for a Republican presidential candidate, you must have been registered in advance.

However,  residents of Monroe County and these  municipalities, regardless of party affiliation,  can vote in their county-wide and municipal elections attached to the Primary ballot.

FLEXIBLE FUNDING MONROE SCHOOLS (Countywide)

COUNTYWIDE - Shall the District continue to enact a yearly ad valorem tax of .5 mill, for four (4) years beginning July 1, 2012, for operating purposes?
The District's objective is to continue to make available a portion of the existing capital ad valorem tax levy for operations - such as teachers, school nurses and classroom materials. The District intends to continue its reduced millage for capital projects, and continue to make available the equivalent amount for operations.

MUNICIPAL BALLOTS

CITY OF MARATHON - Commercial Airline Service
Should the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners actively pursue commercial airline service at a minimum of two
inbound and two outbound flights daily between Marathon and either Miami or Fort Lauderdale or another major airport?

CITY OF MARATHON - Establishment of Taxing District to Financially Support Commercial Airline Service
If necessary, do you support the creation of a taxing district or other local government funding mechanism to pay for or subsidize commercial airline service at a minimum of two inbound and two outbound flights daily between Marathon and either Miami or Fort Lauderdale or another major airport?

VILLAGE OF ISLAMORADA - Providing for ties, eliminating runoff elections, electing Council members to office by highest vote per seat.
The Village Charter currently requires a runoff election if no candidate for a council office receives a majority of the votes cast for that seat. Shall the Village Charter be amended to decide ties by lot and eliminate runoff elections by removing the majority vote requirement and providing that the candidate for office in each seat who receives the highest number of votes cast for that seat be elected to office?
