Fins To Interview Bears Special Teams Coach

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins may be trying to follow the formula set up by the Baltimore Ravens in its current head coaching search.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Dolphins have asked the Chicago Bears for permission to speak to special teams coordinator Dave Toub about the Fins' vacant head coaching position.

The Bears allowed Toub's contract to expire at the end of the season, but the Bears still have exclusive negotiating rights for 15 days, which is why the Fins asked for permission to speak to Toub, according to profootballtalk.com.

Toub's special teams' unit has been the best in the NFL twice and finished last season in fourth. Of course much of his success with the Bears can also be tied to having Devin Hester returning kickoffs and punts.

Toub could also theoretically be a special teams coordinator candidate, according to the Tribune, because he is no longer under contract. Toub's name has also been linked to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the St. Louis Rams.
