Kendall Medical Has 1st Miami-Dade Baby Of 2012

KENDALL (CBSMiami) – While not exactly at the stroke of midnight, a baby born at Kendall Regional Medical Center was the first baby born in the new year in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

The hospital said baby Dennis was born to Mariela Medina and Dennis Gonzalez at 12:05 a.m.

Dennis, at 19 ¼ inches, weighed in at six pounds six ounces. Mother and child are doing fine.

Coming in second for the year was Kimberly Amparo Suarez who was born at Jackson Memorial Hospital at 12:15 a.m.  Kimberly was six pounds, three ounces and nineteen inches long. Her mother, Ana Johana Irias, wasn't due until January 19th but went into early labor.

The first baby of the new year in Broward County, Devonte Accius, was born at Memorial Regional Hospital at 12:42 a.m.  Devonte, who came in at nine pounds, nine ounces, was born to Rose Lazarre and Diomene Accius of Hallandale.

In Palm Beach County, the first baby of the year clocked in at 12:01:40 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center.  The boy,  Marcos Jarett Dante, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Martineau Dante.  He weighed in at six pounds, eleven ounces.
