Accused Indiana Child Killer Has Ties To S. Fla.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CBSMiami/AP) — A former Miami resident and fugitive wanted in Florida for more than a decade for violating probation, is now accused of beating a 9-year-old Indiana girl to death and then dismembering her body.

Police say Michael Plumadore, 39, bludgeoned Aliahna Lemmon to death with a brick then dismembered her and hid her head, hands and feet at her grandfather's trailer before dumping the other remains elsewhere.

Authorities didn't say Tuesday why Plumadore killed the child, but Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries said investigators suspected Plumadore was involved due to inconsistencies in his story.

A judge ordered Plumadore held without bail or bond at an initial hearing Tuesday. He has yet to be formally charged in Aliahna's death.

According to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald, court records show Plumadore was sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to battery in Miami-Dade Circuit Court in 2000. Plumadore also had a prior arrest in Miami-Dade for auto theft in 1999, records show.

An arrest warrant was issued for Plumadore in June 2000, after Plumadore failed to report to his probation officer and failed to attend a court-ordered anger-management class, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.
