MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – The U.S. Honor Flag was put on a flight out of Miami International Airport on Monday morning bound for Orlando where it will be flown at the funeral service for a Lakeland police officer killed in the line of duty.
Officer Arnulfo Crispin was fatally shot in the head while questioning some men while on patrol Dec. 19. Another officer who arrived minutes after Crispin’s last radio call found him unresponsive on the ground.
Crispin’s funeral service will be held Tuesday morning.
A 19-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder in Crispin’s death.
The U.S. Honor Flag is an American flag which was flown over the World Trade Center site after the 9/11 attacks. The flag was donated by the Texas House of Representatives just after the 2001attacks. It has been flown in Iraq and Afghanistan and at the funerals of police officers.
