Report: Cristobal Leading Candidate For Pitt Job

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Florida International University is just hours away from taking part in the school's second straight bowl game, but it could be the final bowl game for FIU head coach Mario Cristobal.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Cristobal is the leading candidate to take over the University of Pittsburgh's football team next season.

The only thing holding negotiations up now is that Cristobal will not discuss the job until FIU finishes the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl Tuesday night.

The Post-Gazette said that Cristobal's decision hinges on whether he wants to leave his hometown and the city where he went to college.

If he did leave, the Post-Gazette speculated Pitt could at least triple Cristobal's current salary of $500,000 per year.

If Cristobal chooses to stay at FIU, the next two candidates on Pitt's wish list are Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell and Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst.
