Transcripts Of Rothstein Deposition To Be Released

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — The media will now have access to transcripts of depositions with convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein, according to a Florida judge's ruling.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Raymond Ray ruled Tuesday the transcripts could be released to the news media eight days after they are completed. That means the first transcript will be ready early next week. Previously it would have been late December or January before Rothstein's sworn testimony would have been public.

The depositions, given by Rothstein in a Miami courtroom over a two week period, allowed investor attorneys to grill him about the others involved in the massive scheme. Attorneys say Rothstein is naming names and providing details.

Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to orchestrating a $1.2 billion scam. It involved use of phony legal settlements sold to hundreds of investors.
