Stanley C. Panther Named One Of The Top Mascots
SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Panthers have a lot to be proud of. Not only are they one of the top teams in the NHL, their mascot is also one of the top mascots of 2011.
Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced Friday that the Florida Panthers mascot, Stanley C. Panther, was recognized with the honorable mention as "Best Mascot" of 2011 by GameOps.com.
Denver Nuggets mascot, Rocky, earned the top spot for the prize that spans all sports leagues, major and minor, and is part of the website's annual "Best Of" awards.
"Stanley impressed the panel with high-energy, interactivity and versatility on and off the ice," GameOps.com wrote. The site also lauded his many initiatives and appearances in the community, including a Healthy Habits program at local schools.
Stanley C. Panther's honor marks the first time a National Hockey League mascot has been featured in the "Best Mascot" category.
